Is it musical enough to be considered excellent for music in 2 channels?
I would recommend Theta's new Dreadnaught 5 Channel Amp. I believe it to be an excellent amp for Music AND HT. It's the first quality amp that uses a modular design. You can start with 2 channels and upgrade it to 5 when you want. I purchased mine with the Silver faceplate and cover. WOW does it look and most importantly sound sweet. This amp is pretty much David Reisch's (spelling sorry) design. Everyone I demo my system too falls in love. I did too =)I would highly suggest audtioning this amp before you make a purchase. Check on the price first. If it's not in your range, then don't listen to it. It's hard to go back afterwards. Trust me. (Oh I'm so weak.. must say no...must say..... YES I'll TAKE IT).
Have fun with your purchase =)
I was also looking at the Sunfire but stepped up to the Parasound HCA-2205A 5 channel and AVC-2500 preamp. I think they are much better than the Sunfire AND I got a great deal on them both! I have had them for three weeks now and they are getting better everyday.
I've heard it on the Magnepan MG3.6 with the Sunfire Preamp. The sound was very musical. Some @ the store preferred the current source on the true ribbon, while I found the dynamics suffered too much.
