In Reply to: Why didn't you people tell me to buy a signal (cable) amplifier sooner? posted by Bosh on March 07, 2004 at 20:55:22:
I had an industrial strength one installed by my cable company, to improve both internet and cable. They call it a "head amp", and it also has surge protection. No charge for unit or install, just part of their equipment.

Can you share the secret of how to get the cable company to install a head amp? Something tells me that it wasn't simply asking them to do it.
I told them (COX Hampton Roads) I was going to have 8+ TVs connected to cable, plus the fact that I upgraded from cable only to cable/internet/phone service. They had to run a new cable line from the backyard pestestal over to the ground connection on my power meter/panel ground rod, then run another line from there all the way around my house to my cable entrance box. They used RG11 on both runs.Since I"m are forking out $200 a month to the cable co. (which includes Hi-def service), they should kiss my a$$ every chance they get!
and what is the model number?
I have the model #pct-ma-1015-1p
