I have a Mission 77c1 center speaker on top of my Sony Wega tv. I have noticed that male voices seem to sound a little boomy through this speaker. I think I have found the problem though: the hollow plastic enclosure of the tv seems to add an undesirable "boxy" effect to certain frequencies coming from the speaker. I guess its hollowness seems to resonate quite a bit with male voices. Have any of you noticed this same effect. I have it temporarily solved by placing a folded blanket under the speaker to absorb? any vibrations fromt he speaker before they cause the tv to resonate. Now the voices are clear and natural, without a hint off tubbyness. Obviously this is an ugly fix, but I was wondering if there is anything on the market, that can be used for this purpose. Any other suggestions? I hope this doesn't seem too ridiculous... Thanks!

If you want to spend $18, you could put three vibra pods under the speaker. I'd purchased some Iso balls a while ago. Never heard any difference with them under my CDP. So, I put them under my center channel. Since I've got a rear projection TV, in theory the speaker could transmit vibrations to the screen and cause noise. Didn't notice any difference there either, but the speaker does look kind of cool sitting atop of the three iso balls.
I use mouse pads (trimmed of course), which works very well (I have the same center).
Very Good idea. I tried the same thing once for isolating my CDP from the equipment rack. I cut the mouse pad into little squares but I didn't notice any difference in sound. It would definitely do the center channel trick for you though.
Good luck
Greg
Other than this minor problem, I have really enjoyed this center speaker along with the other 77series speakers in my system. Thanks for the input!
-this stuff really dampens minor problems like you are talking about. This stuff is wonderful to put in between speakers and solid stands too. God is in the details and this little tweak should help your detail problem and not be as ugly as the blanket fix. If you use "Blu-Tak" it probably will cost around $8/sheet. Similar stuff (think poster putty to hold posters to walls without tacks) is at all hardware/wal-mart type stores much cheaper. I think sonically they are the same but I'm sure someone will say that the Blu-Tak is better. YMMV.
However be cautious when using these products. Their adhesive properties increase with age and exposure and may leave a mark on some surfaces.
