In Reply to: Are there any AV receivers that are good at 5.1 and produce Audiophile sound in 5.1 and stereo ? posted by nevillewoo@yahoo.com on March 24, 2004 at 17:25:25:
I had the Rotel 5.1 receiver (model before the current one). I still found two channel a bit lacking for me. I tried an older Proceed separates system, actually Proceed Processor and Classe multichannel amp and then finally the Pioneer flagship before this one, the 49tx without the i. Anyway I have gone to a Linn Classic Movie system. I prefer it to any of the others for music. I have a sub and always use a crossover so don't need much power in my smallish room. If a lower power unit would suit your needs I highly recommend the Linn. I picked up a dealer demo for $1500 on audiogon and they do pop up there from time to time.
