When watching sports events my overall PQ is very good including text that appears in the main source, ie: the numbers on the players' uniforms, the scoreboard, et al. However, I notice that with overlays like the stats that are superimposed in the lower (or upper as the case may be) corner of the screen the text is somewhat "jaggy." What causes this?
Follow Ups:
I went to Brett's Panny site via AVS Forum (I have a Panasonic PT-47wx42) and disabled the SVM as per his instructions. Not only are the "jaggies" gone, but the overall PQ went from very good to excellent. Very simple, and effective, tweak.
If you can read it, it's good enough for them. I doubt there's a fix on your end.
You need a de-interlacer that has motion motion compensation de-interlacer, so that it knows what kind of algorithm is needed on different part of the image. Faroudja's DCDi is a pretty advanced de-interlacing algorithm that could handle video/film/inlay of many types. Their cheapest de-interlacer/scaler is the NRS.
Please describe your video system, connections... Whatcha got, bud?
