What's the point in owning a Ferrari if you drive in central London only.
It's overkill. Component cables of decent build (often RG6 with rca tips gives optimal performance) is as much as you need. Some expensive cables make a difference, but we're talking about a source here that only carries a fraction of the information a TV is capable of displaying. No point.
Follow Ups:
The DVI is much better than the Component! A no brainer!
Just kidding.
:-)
ooops...
In no special order:
#1 At least one less A/D D/A conversion with a digital display
#2 Less video noise
#3 At least equal, but usually more accurate signal transfer
#4 One cable vs three cables for video
#5 Scaling in DVD players with DVI outputs is better than the scaling in most displays
#6 In displays 42" and up the advantages become more apparent
#7 Do I really need a #7?
