Now I have Comcast for HDTV and STB. HDTV is very good, but would switch to satellite in a heartbeat if something were available at a reasonable cost.
Follow Ups:
They really don't have their act together. The free 811 HD receiver offer was what hooked my gills to DISH, but I regret it now. 811 is basically a prototype that's not ready for prime time, and I feel like a beta-tester. Even with all the software updates, 811 still has plenty of bugs.DISH has shown over the past 6 months that they often do not know and/or care about their own hardware/software. What's worse, I'm really beginning to think they don't care about the customer, either.
I must say, though, that when 811 is working properly, it does give you a beautiful HD picture via OTA or dish. DISH SD channels are no good, though.
It took only a few "A/B" sessions to figure out satellite was no better than Charter digital cable in terms of PQ. I was disappointed because a few friends were adamant that satellite was sooooo much better than cable. But at least now I know the differences having been able to do a direct comparison in the home.Charter had the better HD selection (if you can call 8 channels a better "selection" than 5-6 channels). This has just convinced me to get an OTA antenna.
The saving grace for Dish is the OTA tuner and a DVI output so I can avoid the need for a component switcher for a little while longer. I also liked the (SD) dual-tuner receiver to feed 2 TVs from one receiver.
