I'm new to Home Theater - just purchased a Mitsu 48inch with a surround package. The TV is set in an entertainment center that we built that is slightly off the ground. A drawer for storage and then the TV sits on top. The picture is darker at that level than when standing or crouching. Should I lower the TV?

The center of any display device should be at the seated viwer's eye level. You may want to consider a calibration by ISF for optimum picture and longest set life.
