I have a MArantz SR-96 receiver (110W front, 90W rear) which has a full compliment of pre-amp outs, & main amp ins.
MY room will not allow for surround speakers. I was wondering if I could use the rear channels of the Marantz to bi-amp my mains.
I could connect a Y splitter to the pre-amp outs for the front L&R and send the singal to both the front & rear main amp ins.Would there be any potential problems with this?
Thanks
Dan
Hi DanFrom your description it sounds as if the amps are independent except perhaps using a common power supply. I assume you intend using an active crossover? If not then I'm unsure of the advantages of the change. Doing a biamp job properly is not as simple and as inexpensive as it might first appear.
There is an excellent discussion of all this at http://www.sound.au.com/
Good lick
