You didn't mention the model or what type of Rear Projection display you had. Is it CRT or LCD?I don't know about Sony's RP CRT models, but the only all digital connection via DVI for their RP LCD displays is available solely with the very latest GW III XBR models. All of the rest of Sony's past (WE and XBR models) and current (WE models) RP LCD line convert the DVI digital input to analog for the video processing.
If you have a Rear Projection CRT model and the DVI signal really does remain in the digital domain, you should see a small (subtle) improvement. Otherwise, the DVI input only serves as just that -- an input, not an improvement.
With a DVI or HDMI connection, the biggest improvements can be seen with fixed pixel displays (plasma, DLP, LCD, etc).

Thanks. BTW the SONY RPTV is a CRT model so I guess I shouldn't bother.
