I have a Sony DVP-S360 player that is about 4 years old.
A couple weeks ago, I was watching a movie, paused it for a few minutes, came back to play it, and it didn't work.
Now, every time I put in a dvd, it tells me there is no disc inserted.I have opened it up and tried cleaning the laser and the drive, but still it doesn't see any discs, which play fine in other dvd drives.
When inserted, it sounds like it is spinning, and slowing down. Spins up again, then slows down, and so on until it gives up and says no disc.
Anyone know why this may be happening, and/or how to fix it?
Thanks!
Follow Ups:
If you have tried cleaning the lens and it still won't read the discs, either the laser is out of alignment or the optical pick-up is fried.Alignment is about $35-$50 at a repair shop and a new pick-up can be anywhere from $25-$150, depending on what model you need and whether or not it's still available from Sony.
If you're in love with the player, have it checked out at the repair shop. If not, just get a new one.
Thanks for the info.
Not a major attachment.
Already replaced it with a new 5 disc changer, but was hoping to resurrect it to put into the bedroom. Thanks again!
