Im not in to HT but a friend has asked me to recomend a 5.1 or 6.1 reciever in the 4-500$ range. so far hes interested in sony ES and
sanyo. whats the hot item these days ? he probly wont change again
for years:)

Can be found for <$350 online.
Decodes just about every surround format, has 8-channel preamp inputs and 8-channel preamp outputs for amp use if the receiver's power isn't enough or for upgrading later on.

  much power? does it have good bass and sat management? what are 8 channels in/out for? its 6.1? Sorry for all the Qs but like i said

    If you need more power, they do offer a receiver with more power or you can use separate amps with higher power output. I've seen ads on ebay for new product at $339 + $37 shipping from online vendors for the HTR-5760.
