FWIW, I understood you the 1st time. It was my 1st impression too. That's why I bought one. Been there, done that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting the speaker. I still love it. I'm just saying it gets better. Almost, wet dreams better. In fact, I've promised to buy my local dealer's demo for another & stack them with the 2 tweeters meeting. In that way, I can center the central image with an MTM configuration while supplying more surface area to increase its image. The current image size discrepancy with my MG2.7s is annoying. This ought to kill 2 birds with one stone & if the increased surface area happens to extend the bass into actually exhibiting some, so much the better.
However, after much searching for an amp carting around my MGLR1, I tried a Krell KAV & never looked back. You wouldn't believe how much the XO attenuates until you check it out for yourself. It's not my intention to demean your system. It is my intention to recommend trying a Krell. Not buy, Listen. Just listen, & then tell me I'm full of it.
Wish I had the $$$ to spend on the Krell amps. I lucked out to get
my CC-1 at $200 used. So I can't complain too loudly.I am looking at more power for the whole HT, about 200w/8ohms, 400 into
4... that should help from the current Marantz MA-500.....Leading candidate so far is the EAD Powermaster 1000 if/when it gets
released. Thanks for your thoughts, they have been helpful misundestandings or not ;-)
any others?
Sadly, there weren't. I was experiencing a very good "Audio Kharma"
day. I was in a local haunt, ok it was Saturday Audio Exchange --
I'd never been there before, looked up, and what did I see?The CC-1. Knowing I was going to build a home theater, I asked
what they wanted for it, knowing full well right up the street it
was $750. They wanted $200.Couldn't believe my luck. Got exactly what I wanted, saved over
$500....Way cool.
