Hi all,I hope someone can please help.
I'm doing my best to help my dad long distance over the phone. He has just hooked up his new Sony DVPNS575P DVD player to his 3-4 year old Sony KP53V85 TV.
Here's his problem:
With the switch on the back of the DVDP set to progressive, he gets a horizontally split picture. When set to normal, it works.I'm obviously not there, so it is possible he still had his Svid cable from his previous player hooked up. I don't know if that might have caused it. He said he had it hooked at first, and I told him to try unhooking it, but I'm really not sure if he tested it after, and his patience was running out by this point. We'll start fresh on a new phone call.
Are the V85s possibly component but not progressive? I've downloaded the manuals to his stuff, and the TV manual gives no info about the component jacks except to mention their peak-to-peak voltage rating (no mention of 480p or i or anything).
Follow Ups:
Hi thereYou're probably correct that the component video inputs of the Sony KP53V85 do not accept a progressive signal. If the TV manual does not mention HDTV capabilty, then do not feed it a progressive signal.
