In Reply to: Difference between Y, Pb, Pr and Y, U, V DVD Component Input. posted by Kartheek on August 25, 2004 at 10:44:26:
Hi,I've never seen a combination of Y Pb Pr and Y U V in analog equipment, but I do understand the colorspaces on computer. In computer they are "sometimes" identical. The problem comes with there being 2 different specs for Y Pb Pr.
I would suggest that they will work. Pb is the same as the U channel, and Pr is the same as the V channel. As the other poster says -- if they are color coded the same, you can't really go wrong.

Hai! Neil,
After connecting the cables, I am able to watch movies. So, it is working.Actually, the DVD player component output has Y, Cb, Cr output, not Y, Pb, Pr as I have mentioned in the post.
The jacks are color coded as follows:
a) in the DVD player - Y (Green), Cb (Blue), Cr (Red), Left audio (White), Right audio (Red).
b) in the Television - Y (Green), Pb (Blue), Pr (Red), Left audio (White), Right audio (Red).I have connected the RCA cables as follows:
Yellow plug to Y,
White plug to Cb and Pb,
Red plug to Cr and Pr,
White plug to Left audio,
Red plug to Right audio. Thanks for the reply.
Regards,
