My main purpose was to replace my VCR; I've never liked tapes (audio or video). I love it in the sense of what it will and can do. We came home the other night and used the "chase play". Our show started about 1/2 hour before we got home. Hit play and it starts playing from the beginning while still recording.... chase play. Cool. :)
It's the first Pioneer product I've ever owned (be it car, home portable, whatever). Pioneer DVD players have a pretty good rep so I just bought it primarily on price and reputation. I immediately noticed the picture on cable was quite poor compared to the tuner of the Sony SLV-975 VCR it replaced. I started to play with the settings on my PJ first and noticed that it had somehow set itself back to the factory setting. After I played with the DVR-320 and PJ settings a bit I'm satisfied. The picture playing a DVD recorded from cable is pretty much like watching cable and the picture from DVD movies is as good as my other two DVD players so to make a long story a little shorter.... I'm happy with it.
