I have some B&K gear I picked up at auction (older but unused AVP1000 and a 6.5.4 amp (6 ch.-60wpc) that I really like the sound of.
But, unfortunately, the amp is a bit underpowered for my speakers and the pre is a "pro-Logic"
I was hoping you could give me some of your opinions on the B&K receiver you mentioned and any other B&K stuff you may have in the system.
The B&K AVR-202 is an excellent reciever, I had it in my system for about a year. It is a little on the warm side, not very bright but excellent soundstage and depth. It is rated at 105 x 5 channels but I think that is very conservative, I auditioned the Denon 5700 and Yamaha dsp-a1 and even though their specs claim they have more power they didn't in the real world. I have a pair of Platinum Audio Ref 1 loudspeakers and they are very inefficient (84db). The B&k handled them very well in a small room(I'm moving to a larger a place and need more power), the Denon wasn't to bad in 2 channel but in 5 channel with DTS it started to show its weakness. The Yamaha clipped fairly easily when driving all 5 channels and just didn't sound all that good in 2 channel, comparatively speaking. The Yamaha and the Denon are both decent units but the B&K to me seemed far better, especially if 2 channel is important. I have recently picked up the ref-20 pre-amp and av6000 II AMP, not to much to say yet, the amp is more powerful than the reciever but I need more time with it.I hope this helps.
