  The Pioneer's are supposed to have a very good picture (never tried one myself) the Panasonic's don't (I have compared Panasonic to Phillips, Phillips easily won, although a bit cumbersome to use)

  Recently I was hot to get a combined HD-DVD recorder but the more I looked into it the more I saw the technology changing and the prices dropping - very much like the computers.

  I guess the question is how long can one wait? My answer, at the moment, is at least a few more months until dual layer recorders come down in price and the idiots battling about HD DVD get their act together and decide on the one standard. Not holding my breath though as I could suffocate in the process.
