I have a Pioneer DVD player that has a built in 5.1 processor and a 2 channel intergrated amp. I think I should be able to use the processor in the Pioneer to get DD 5.1 through my amp but I don't know how to hook it up.
Follow Ups:
So, bottom line, I still need a 5.1 channel amp or receiver right?Ok, so if I want to still play my music through my intergrated amp but use the same speakers for both (HT and 2 Channel), how would I do that?
Read the post just below the one in the link as well ( Not just for Integrateds!" ):

You would take the main L/R preamp outputs from the pre/pro or receiver and feed them into an input on your integrated amp. If the amp has a HT/Bypass input, that would be ideal but, otherwise, just use any line-level input and remember to put the volume control at the same fixed setting for 5.1.
OK, so what's the point of having a DVD player with a DD processor in it if you still need a 5 channel amp or receiver?
The only difference is the processor is in my DVD player... no?
The reason for the decoder in the DVD player is simply for giving the user options. You can decode via the player and not need a pre-pro, sending the 6 analog signals to their respective amps right from the DVD player (the low cost option). The other option is to send the digital signal to a pre-pro and decoding there and managing all of the various settings, usually offering higher quality DAC's and decoders, and more management options. In either case you still need amplification for all 6 channels.
Your player's processor is capable of separating the signal into 5.1 channels but you need to amplify all those channels. A 2channel amp can only amplify 2 channels. Both the player and the amp have to be capable of the requisite channels and, of course, the number of speakers.
First hook the front 2 channels to your 2 channel amp, then get a 3 channel amp and hook up the center and 2 rear channels, add a powered sub and you will have DD or DTS 5.1
5.1 into 2 won't go.
