    This company makes a 30" flat-panel LCD (1280x768) which can be found for <$1800 (that was over 6 months ago). Very shortly they will have a 37" flat-panel LCD (1920x1080) for $2500 retail.

    Plasmas in the 42" range can be found for <$2k, but they are ED models. Check out 1800plasmas.com for price comparisons.
