If this unit has it, give the Dolby Pro Logic II codec a try on two channel material. I did and became a convert and now swear by it.

I think its very nice. Not bad for a digitally rendered image essentially. I still prefer the straight 2 channel analog bypass via the Arcam CD Player though.
But for my music server - I might run in DPLII all the time.
