A general rule for optimum viewing that I have found to be accurate is to sit "2 1/2 to 4 times the diagonal of the screen away from the set". For a 35 inch screen that equates to about 8 3/4 feet to 11 2/3 feet. Closer thanb the 8 3/4 feet and the scan lines will become very obvious - farther than 11 2/3 feet and you lose the impact of a larger screen size. I have a 53 inch Hitachi which I view from about 12 feet. 2 1/2 times 53 inches is a little over 11 feet.. I could have bought the 61 inch Hitachi but it would have been too big for the room ..Bob L.
How does this rule change with a 16:9 aspect set?Tom
