i am serious!
i know a elderly gentleman who got a 32" Wega. couldn't get it out of the box, called a very strong friend of mine, who called a friend of his! And the three of them got it out of the box.
That's Covered!!!The Boys are not getting beers and Pizza for just showing up. They are going to earn it!!! And I'm using Metro wire shelving which can handle up to 800 lbs per self. The 24" x 42" shelf will house a 36" WEGA with less than an inch to spare next to each pole. I plan to have 4 - 5 guys ready for that maneuver!
Checkout www.industrialhouse.com for a great source of Metro Shelves.
If it takes more than three people to install, you guys are wimps! Three to get it out of the box, and two to put it (36XBR200, 217 lb.) up on a 33 in. high shelf (connect marked cables in the rear before lifting it into place). There is a slight groove under each side of the set for a hand grip.
What I said applies to the Wega if you are using cable!! Everyone of the Wegs I have seen run with a vcr or cable looks horrible (it has too, it is showing you what you get!). However, off air broadcasts with a good antenna and downlead will match or beat a small dish on the Sony. The question is, do you only watch DVD movies on the Wega? If so, then get the biggest you can afford. Heck for the money get a rear projection TV where the screen is even bigger! HOWEVER, if broadcast TV is the main thing, then some caution is in order. Yes and make sure your friends are ripped!!
hi,
this will be an ongoing problem for the next decade, and possibly longer. While there will be a growing tide of hi quality video feeds;
there will be a lot broadcast under the old NTSC standard. Not sure if the WEGA includes a line doubler; but my feeling is that this will NOT be an accesory during the transistion. A decent line doubler will make the NTSC
stuff passable; without it.... things could get ugly.
