1. You get a shiny new addressable cable box which lets you buy naughty channels and PPV events
2. You purchase a PPV event, or a certain amount of time of a naughty channel
3. The cable company pings your cable box to let you watch the PPV
4. You plug in the blocker thingy, and it prevents the cable company from pinging your box again to shut the channel off
5. Voila! You have free access to PPV or naughty channels ad infinitum
Or, at least, that's how it *could* work. If I were the cable company, I'd just ping the cable box with something like "allow the user to watch channel 412 for 24 hours, then shut off access." This would bypass the hack nicely.
BTW that seems like a lot of money for what's basically a notch filter. Probably costs a dollar to make.

Your tag line "music is subjective, sound is not" could not be more trite or incorrect. Of course sound is subjective. Some like electrostatic speakers for example, others can't stand them. If you are saying that there is a science to the way things REALLY are, you are just making yourself look like a stereo review tool, who has no clue about sound reproduction and clings to meanlingless specs.
in other words, it makes you look like a clueless kid who is trying to look smarting than others when in fact you are promoting a very low end idea.

  Sound is a physical phenomena. It's also a rather crude method of communication, IMHO. Sound is, basically, bits of air banging against each other. It isn't nearly as interesting as the crazy physics of light, or the amazingly complex chemical sensors in our nose and taste buds. Our sense of hearing is just a very evolved sense of touch.

  Sorry, I don't understand that sentence. Scientists are tools of Stereo Review? Wow, even after death that publication has some clout! Funny, I don't remember them measuring anything, though, while Stereophile seems to measure the crap out of everything.

    Ray Kimber and the Kimber Cable company are two of the most respected names in cable.
    While I do believe that cables make a difference, if you would have said "Hi-End cables" or "audiophile/videophile cables" I would not have responded. However, to slur someone who not only contributes to the audio community (AA, for one), but actually sponsors the musical arts is asinine and counter-productive to the hobby and, in some cases, audio/music profession that we all enjoy.
    Other than that, I agree with your comments to that prick.

      I meant no disrespect to Mr. Kimber. I'm sure his cables are very nice (I build my own cables.)
      Kimber, along with Mark Levinson and Krell, are very visible audiophile-wise, in that audiophiles that don't know much about gear assume, by name alone, it's fantastic stuff. "Oooh, you have Kimber cables! Those are awesome!" type reactions. I was just using Kimber as an example of one of the "Cool" audio gear companies.
