Ok I am fairly knowledgible about AV receivers, not Highly but I know some stuff. Anyway, I was thinking about going to separates for my next theater room (finishing the basement soon) I know nothing about separates and why you would use them over Let's say an Onkyo Integra DTR 7 cause that is the AV receiver I would buy for it. Any sites that show how to hook it all up???? I'm really clueless about this and really could use some good advice on where to start learning about all this stuff. Thanks guys(gals) for the help.
Hooking up a Pre/Pro isn't radically different from hooking up
a receiver. All of the connections currently going into your receiver go into
your pre/pro. The subwoofer output goes to the sub. The main channel
outs goto the amp(s). Your speaker outs will move to the amp(s).In terms of hookup, you'll definitely notice the 5 extra RCA cables
between the pre/pro and amp(s).If you purchase the right pre/pro and the right 5 channel amp, you
can use a DB-25 between the pre/pro and the amp so that there is only
1 cable between them, much neater.I've never tested DB-25 from the pre/pro to the amp because my pre/pro
doesn't have that output option, and I have 3 amps, not a single
multi-channel amp.Hope this helps.
