The Picture adjustment in your User Menu corresponds to the Contrast setting.
Here's another option. Have you tried a calibration disc (Digital Video Essentials or Avia)? Both discs will work with the User Menu settings and do not require access to the Service Menu in order to help you get a better picture from your display. I've read comments from others that DVE is available at some libraries (free use!) and movie rental stores (a couple of $). One of these may help your situation as they would at least show you how far off the settings are and may even enable you to get a satisfactory picture without having to call out and pay a tech if the the display isn't still under warranty.

I have not tried any calibration procedures other than those provided by the TV menu. Your option sounds good to me and I will be checking on the disc(s) availability.

Sometimes the auto settings lock certain parameters in and you can't affect them, or can't change them much. Turn those settings off then try.Bob Wood
