I am feeling really stupid for not knowing the answer to this but here it goes.I am starting to look into Pre/Pro to pair with my new Outlaw. Really considering the new Parasound AVC-1800. It appears to be the best bang for the buck in its price range. However, I read a couple of reviews were they identify the fact that this unit has NO "component" in/outs as a weakness.
Can someone please explain to me what a "component" in/out is?
Sorry for not knowing the answer to this. Thanks in advance to anyone answering such a boneheaded question.
Excluding projectors and monitors, most video is output in 3 configurations. Composite, the typical plain vanilla coax connection from your cable company or vcr; S-video, which divides the luminence and color info (if I remember that correctly); and finally component video which divides up the color spectrum between 3 seperate cables. Component video is recognized as the highest performance output, but is useless if your dvd player and tv do not have component video capabilities. Composite and component are similar words and are many times confused (justifiably) but are completely different and incompatible.
