Hi!I have been thinking about a home theater system for both video and music. The dimensions of the room are 11x18x9.5. My budget is about $7000.
I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
this is your call. Your first decision is how to divvy up the funds between audio and video. I would start with the tv. Pick a size, then a technology, and then the one that looks best. The 40" and 42" plasmas
are nice.Stereo and HT have different designs. Stereo speakers will have weaknesses doing movies, and ht monitors have flat frequency response that won't do stereo very well.
You can also go stereo. That's what I wound up doing. But it is fun to fool around with surround for a while. Get a decent sub. Hsu makes a good sub for the $$.
"Stereo speakers will have weaknesses doing movies, and ht monitors have flat frequency response that won't do stereo very well."Not true. The differences are not inherent in the speakers but in the preferences dictated by the media and that's what EQ is for. Also, attention to room acoustics is essential and will, to a great extent, level the playing music-vs.-movie playing field.
