I am looking for a high quality pre/pro and amp combo. My current system consists of a AES AE-3 with a Cary V-12 running L/R and I run a B&K 307 as a source on the AE-3 for HT processing. I am tring to simplify my system and have one multi channel amp and a excellent pre/pro. Most of my listening is Home theater, but I want the ability to have excellent 2 channel capability. I have listened to the Anthem D-1 with the P-5, and in 2 channel processed mode, it was just "OK" for music. But in 2 channel analog by-pass, It was stunning!!. It ranks up with some of the best 2 channel I have heard. The downside is the price. Both pieces are $10,000.00 (retail) which is more that I would like to spend. My thoughts were maybe the Sunfire Theater Grans IV with the Signature amp. This combo would be a little less, but I havn't heard either yet. I am open to sugesstions.
Follow Ups:
This preamp and multichannel amp seperates looks like the deal of the century. Ive been waiting almost two years for them to finish this project and it looks like they will be finnally released in Feburary. Lets hope. Right now the deal is $1000 for the combo deal. Its only $500 for the preamp. Im definately getting one to replace my Rotel preamp.

StylinLP...how did this work out? Do you miss your Rotel?
You might want to wait a few more weeks and then check out the new Masters Series pre/pro and 7-channel amp from NAD. This is their attempt to provide cost effective "upscale" equipment designed to take on the likes of Krell, Arcam FMJ, Anthem, etc.Obviously I haven't heard them yet, as they're supposed to hit the market this next month. But I am very intrigued. From what I hear the M15 "Surround Sound Preamplifier" and the M25 amp will both be $2,995.00. So the two together will run just under six grand.
Are the lack of decent processors in the $1000 to $1500 range. There are tons of receivers from a few hundred to thousands, which have everything required for a surround setup. But somehow almost all processors are well over $1500. It just seems to me that there should be a huge market for pre/pros in this price range. Take out the amplifier section, take out the tuner and upgrade the important sections in the unit. Presto.
I would stronly second the Cary idea and go with a the Cary pre-pros and multi-channel amps. Better than the Anthem IMO.The Sunfire won't tough that combo.
BTW, NAD is very good budget gear but it will sound closed in compared to what you've been listening to.
You are used to very good two channel equipment!Ok, here goes...Look at the EAD processor, supposed to sound quite good in 2 channel. Also, why not try the Cary pre-processor, since you like their stuff.
Take a look at the NAD 163 pre/pro. Around $2 grand and packed with features and good sound. Their multi channel amp (T-973) is also a good buy.
