Earlier I asked if anyone had heard anything about plasmas emitting a 1KHz tone on the AC line. Got no response
Last week I had a chance to experiment with a device to eliminate this AC noise (Bybee Video enhancer). I am pleased to report that the results are absolutely stunning. Perhaps part of the increase is due to the use of Bybee purifiers, but I have used his power cords before and this new device is far superior. Image detail, color saturation, black levels, and motion artifacts are all significantly improved. If you have not tried this device, you will not have seen your set's capabilities. It also is a tremendous performance enhancer for the DVD players also.
Follow Ups:
First of all, what 1-KHz tone? I hear no 1-KHz tone from my plasma set itself or in any of my gear as a result of the plasma set being turned ON in my system.Perhaps poorly shielded or marginally designed gear is more susceptible??
Apparently the 1kHz tone is imposed on the AC, which is why you can't hear it. It does contaminate the AC line, however. If you try to use a AC regenerator like the PS Audio's on a plasma set, there is an extremely high probability that the set will cause the regenerator to oscillate and blow fuses, if you are lucky.
If the 1 kHz tone is "imposed on the AC" by the plasma display, then how can the bybee filter enhance the performance of the display? I could understand how _other_ components might benefit from this filtering, but not the plasma display itself.
Has someone actually measured and "seen" this 1-KHz tone riding on the 60Hz AC mains on the outlet that a plasma set is plugged into? Which brand plasma set or do all of them induce the nasty 1-KHz tone?Where did you read about such a thing.... a reputable electronics journal or is this just more voodoo audiophile marketing to help sell expensive tweaks?
where do I find the BYBEE VIDEO ENHANCER? tHANX C-KER
I'm familar with this problem. I solved the problem by using a heavily shielded power cord wrapped in Stillpoints ERS.
I've been using ERS for over tywo years now. It isn't even in the same league.
