dvd problem

Im on mt third dvd. For some reason all my net flix movies skip. Is this net flix or extremely poor luck buting dvd's?

I've received two cracked discs. Needless to say, no machine can play those. (The most annoying part is that by the time I get around to ask for a replacement, they've already got it back, so they won't replace it.)
But, in terms of scratches, I've had 5 which would skip or freeze. And there are definitely some DVD players that are better than others at playing them. Just like CD players.
BTW, did this ever happen with VHS tapes? Er...no.

...in several years of renting. This one was scratched and would not play properly. Every other disc from Netflix has been fine (except maybe the CONTENT of some movies, but that's another story...)

If it's not the player(Model# not posted)
it's simply the discs are scratched..
When I rent dvds even minor blemishes cause the player(s) to freeze/skip periodically.....
