I just added a powered-sub to my Marantz SR 7000. I connected the powered sub via the sub pre-out on the 7000 to the sub's line input using a Monster sub cable. While the low frequencies/LFE are very satisfying in movie, I did not get any bass at all while playing music. I have heard this has something to do with the SR 7000's high built-in cross over at 100 Hz. I've tried to setup the main speakers to either "large" or "small" with no result. Please advise if you have encountered similar situations and your solutions/suggestions as far as alternative connection/setup/configuration. Thanks in advance.
When playing music CD's you should be getting bass sent to the sub-out when the main speakers are set to "small". As you noted, it will be all frequencies below 100Hz. When the main speakers are set to "large", no bass will be sent to the sub-out.One additional item with this receiver (I own the SR-8000, so it should be similar): If you select the "Direct" mode when using any stereo source (i.e. CD player), the main speakers go to "large" (regardless of menu setup!) and there will not be any output from the sub-out. Could this be your situation?
