I moved to the country. The house has a tall antenna. The rotor is locked into place but that is okay because it is probably in the optimum position anyway. I got a new booster to connect the antenna to the tv. I got very good reception (most of the time) for a few weeks. Then, nothing but crap. I forgot about the television for several months. When I tried it again during the Olympics, I got very good reception for a couple of days, and then nothing but crap. It seems if I go away for a few days, when I return I might get good reception for several minutes before it goes to crap. I don't watch enough television to pay for satellite tv, but if I could figure out my problem and solve it I would.I am wondering, either the booster is crap. Or maybe there is some kind of wierd electrical interference in the house that disrupts the signal. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Do you have any suggestions? Is there another forum that might also be helpful? Thanks.

what does your poor reception exhibit?
Diagonal lines= FM interference
Snow = poor cabeling & or antenna or loose connections & or poor coax fittings
scrolling Hum bar= ground loop
Is the antenna wire loose or in bad shape?
RG6 cable has much better isolation & less signal loss
Check connections inside & out
Use an inline DC filter whenever amps are in the lines.....
Just trying to do a blind fix-it..
Hope this helps....
Some channels, those with best reception, have squiggly diagonal lines, with some upward scrolling, and mostly with snow. Other channels are pretty much snow, possibly with some scrolling. Still other channels are just a blank gray screen. Audio is mostly noise.Me, I haven't a clue. But the fact that once in a while I get reception, but not randomly, only at first, makes me think it isn't loose connections. Once reception is gone it never comes back, unless everything is turned off for several days.
What is the ground loop?
Last summer, the guys who came to install the receiver for my wireless internet said that they couldn't get it to ground. I didn't really understand but it seened like they were saying ground around the house carried a charge or something. I have no problems with the internet though.
Could be your TV's tuner or TV itself what TV do U have?
Me I can't get any reception w/roof antenna period it's either satt or cable 4 me...I'd buy an INDOOR amplified ant From radio shack & try eliminating components/cables that way.....
It is an old Sony Triniton, probably fifteen years old.I was away for a few days earlier in the week. When I came back I turned on the television and immediately had great reception - for five minutes. Then it was back to the noise.
I would check all the components from the antenna to the TV, assuming your TV is OK. These older systems had amplifiers that eventually give up the ghost (or give ghosts ;-)
The only component is the booster, which I think all it does is send a current along the cable to the antenna. The booster could be the problem. The TV could be the problem. Don't know. I just think it is weird that after a few days rest I can get good reception, but only for a few minutes before the interference comes back.
