Could be your TV's tuner or TV itself what TV do U have?
Me I can't get any reception w/roof antenna period it's either satt or cable 4 me...I'd buy an INDOOR amplified ant From radio shack & try eliminating components/cables that way.....
Follow Ups:
It is an old Sony Triniton, probably fifteen years old.I was away for a few days earlier in the week. When I came back I turned on the television and immediately had great reception - for five minutes. Then it was back to the noise.
I would check all the components from the antenna to the TV, assuming your TV is OK. These older systems had amplifiers that eventually give up the ghost (or give ghosts ;-)
The only component is the booster, which I think all it does is send a current along the cable to the antenna. The booster could be the problem. The TV could be the problem. Don't know. I just think it is weird that after a few days rest I can get good reception, but only for a few minutes before the interference comes back.
