What does it do and why is it better as seen in the reviews? Does it work for NTSC playback? Thanks!

This is more specific.
I just upgraded my firmware, the pcture seems a little better, but not dramatically. I now have more options I can turn off.

My link gets you to an excellent source of video information. Clicking on the links there open up more sources of info. You can get to your link from my link and thus the pre-reading (hopefully) allows more understanding when you get to the Oppo's results. You know, teaching a man to fish rather than just giving him one. Or something like that...
:-)
It helps to specifically answer the question. If someone doesn't know what video 2 does, then that reading has no meaning.

It's so '80s/'90s between my :-) and your *rolling eyes* .Since your comments were posted first, he would already have the info needed -- what Video2 does -- when he checked out my link. You answered most of his question: I simply added to it and tried to anticipate the next potential questions (think adverbs) by providing a link to an excellent site re: the different encodes and cadences for DVD.
Unless you disagree that what I provided was "good reading", why belittle my response to his question as "mediocre"? Something wrong Jack? This 1080p input thing starting to get to you? You haven't seen any green splotches lately, have you? [place Smiley here]
I was having a bad day. Sorry. No blotches, but Comcast started scrambling their digital simulcasts of the analog channels.(Pissed emoticon here).
Its been a rough week, unrelated to video.
Again, my apologies.

Hope this week makes up for the last one.I know some of my posts come off pretty bad at times (it's OK to laugh, because that's an understatement), but it's seldom [place Wink here] intentional. I tend to be my worst when I'm having trouble with my bowels. You know the ones: a, e, i, o and pooh.
Its mostly for PAL discs, I'm not sure it does anything for NTSC. I leave it on video 2, since I do have a few PAL discs, and it certainly doesn't hurt NTSC discs.
