In general Do rear projection HDTVs (DLP, LCD) have as good a Picture Quality as flat Panel (Plasma, LCD)? They are quite a bit cheaper and was wondering if main disadvantage was not be wall mountable.or should I just look at flat panels?

As Joe said, all of the technologies have their pluses and minuses. Look at all of them and decide for yourself what is best. I went out to buy a plasma, and came home with a Sony LCOS set, but that's just me. You may feel differently.

Which models are you considering?
Samsung and Sony. But, I'm leaning strongly in the Samsung direction because I currently have Samsung 32 inch LCD and Love it! - Had it for a year and a half now! No problems and Brilliant Picture, both for HD and SD!

Flat panel doesn't have to mean "it hangs on a wall". Plasmas and flat panel LCDs are just at home on a stand as they are hanging on the wall. It depends on your particular situation and setup.Every display technology has its pluses and minuses. If a certain technology is the bomb in a category that you feel is essential (ie; color accuracy, black level, resolution, multiple inputs, etc), you're likely to favor that technology.
The best thing to do is write down a list of what's important to you and would be ideal for your situation. Then investigate the different display technologies to see how they stack up against your list. Don't take it for granted when someone tells you that "display technology X is the best": do the comparisons for your own eyes.
