I was shopping a few months ago and that picture is amazing, probably the best overall image on the showroom floor. I ended up buying the 50 inch SXRD Sony because at 200lbs and a 34 inch picture the CRT had two major strikes against it.
Follow Ups:
I decided to get one, paid $ 965.00 for a floor model.Sure it is big and heavy, but I had it deliverd for an extra $ 45.00, and it sits downstairs in a finished basement.
Right now I get a dozen HD stations on cable, and the picture is just stunning.
2" ball casters.
They make moving the tv so very easy.
If I needed a CRT 36" or smaller, Sony Wega CRT would surely be the one. If I needed 50" or more, Sony SXRD RPLCD would be the one. Native 1080p material played on 1080p Sony SXRD is beyond stunning. Too bad 1080p material is going to be hard to come by.
Much easier to move the recliner !
However the futon is dead center, presents the best view.I happened to catch the beginning of CSI Miami the other night in HD. ( Really a terrible show IMHO ), and the opening scenes of Miami are just unbelievable .
Colors, clarity, detail , etc.
