Can anyone tell me how the B&K Reference 50 compares to a dedicated stereo preamp? For that matter, is it possible to use it as a stereo preamp. My dealer tells me that everything is converted to digital. However, I downloaded the Owner's Manual, and it appears as though there must be at least one direct/bypass for SACD??My system consists of a Denon 2900 w/Modwright Ultimate Truth Mod, a Butler 2250 amp, a Sonic Euphoria preamp, and Gallo REF 3 or Thiel 2.2 speakers. I really want to simplify/combine my audio/video; and I am willing to compromise stereo quality within reason...
Any other pre-pro suggestions would also be appreciated.

You need to find another dealer because that one does not deserve your business. I do not own a B&K Reference 50 but have looked into one before. It has both a preamp and a processor built-in as well as analog inputs and outputs. You will have no problem using it as a stereo preamp and from what I've read one that will do quite a sufficient job.
