I read somewhere that the Sony SXRD 50" TV does not support Blue Ray.
I don't understand this as it is a 1080p set with 1920x1080 resolution.Why not?
I also understand that the new A2000 series SXRD sets will support Blue Ray and they will be out soon.
I sure like the picture of the current 50" SXRD set.

These Sony's are breathtakingly good. See my reply to the post above.John
No cure possible or is solicited for this audio, video and classical music obsession. I love it!
Are you refering to 1080p output of Blu-ray? Few TVs can accept 1080p right now. It will be able to output 1080i, as well as other resolutions. The '05 SXRD only accepts 1080i(or lower) and deinterlaces it to 1080p. But, it has a very good deinterlacer, so I wouldn't worry about it that much, isuspect the difference will be minor. Some of the '06s will take 1080p input.

Thanks Jack and you were exactly right. I meant 1080i.
I don't know a 1080i from a 1080p but the SXRD sure has a great picture. It doesn't sound like this is much to worry about?
I see people over at avsforum passing by this model in favor of the next model line for this reason.

Yea, I've seen them too. I got an SXRD last November and love it. The new '06s will be coming out in Sept./Oct., so many people will just wait for the newer model. Alot of people won't wait, since there are now good deals on the '05 models, and most people just don't care. Right now, there are no 1080p sources, and whether or not Blu-ray will be is irrelevant to most. There certainly is no need to get one's bowels in an uproar over it, especially if you've ever seen what HD-DVD at 1080i looks like on an SXRD.
