I will be adding a home theater receiver to my room mainly for music listening. I would like to maintain the ability to run a surround setup (therefore the home theater receiver). I have narrowed my choices for my price range to the Yamaha HTR-5960 and the Marantz SR4600. I am leaning to the Yamaha as it has built in phono.Do you have any other suggestions other than the two listed?
Also, what is your opinion about the better of the two that I have listed?
Follow Ups:
Of the two you listed the Marantz will be more musical with 2-channel. A better option would be the discontinued Nakamichi AV-10. The MOST musical HT receiver I've ever heard. You can find them used on E-Bay...
I use a marantz HT receiver(8500) & have nothing but praise for it's music repro & HT performance even the on board audio dac's sound great when using an elite 59avi
as a transport.. I have no Yamaha gear so I can not comment on that....
But as in print reviews go,
both usually get high marks****....System: speakers: sonus faber(s)concertino L&R fronts solo(c) walls (r)
sunfire (sub)
elite 59avi uni-spinner, McIntosh 205 changer, Asst interconnects,cables: Monster,audioquest,+others.......
