I can't see much below £8,000, $15,000. Here things are a little more expensive.
So is there a big difference between 1080i on a 1080 line resolution plasma or projector and it processed down to 720p?

Hi,
a dirtly little 'secret' is that most providers downres. This is especially true of satellites. Bandwidth is limited so they squeeze as many channels in as they can; and some of the Hi in your HiDef gets squeezed out.If they aren't bastards, it will still look good. The danger is not
so much in static picture quality is that with the signal strem squeezed pixelisation during movement can become realy bad.Get something nice; but don't spend a fortune until this has a chance
to mature.
.
You'll still enjoy it - a lot.
