I am looking to buy something to use as a home theater for around $500. I will be in a fairly small room. I am looking for Dolby 5.1 support. So far, I looked at the Aiwa NSX DS-11 and the Aiwa NSX MA-545, which are essentially the same except for the built in 5.1 decoder. I also looked at the Kenwood HTB-502. I know the Energy Take 5 is good also, but it dosent come with a reciever, which would cost me like $300 more. Are there other systems that would sound better for about this price, or are any of these pretty good. I'm not sure if its possible to build a component system for the same price. I'm just looking for any input on the issue. Thanks.
Well at that price range you are looking for at HT in a box, sorry but I can't help you much there.
Make a list of the features you want and hit the stores and ask questions and find the unit at best fits your needs.
Pioneer, Yamaha, Sony and Onkyo make some nice budget HT receivers that can be had at a fair price. Try to find a open box sale, demo, close out or used.
Speakers stay with a Mfg, that is know for their good dollar value, Energy, Paradigm, PSB and NHT make some really good speakers for small as well large HT systems.
I know I have missed some but look around take your time and you can find some good deals on the net and at Super Stores. Hope this helps......Kelly
