In my experience maintaining or increasing your current screen height when moving from 4:3 to 16:9 is beneficial especially if viewing 4:3 images"unstretched" on the new 16:9. Check the vertical and horizontal screen measurements on the respective web sites for the display sizes. By the way the correct determination for diagonal measurement is the square root of (height squared plus width squared).
