I am interested in Audiophile quality sound, which TrueHD, an MLP based technology, gives us on these new platforms - and is also a new direction of MLP technology which makes it relevant to DVD-Audio.I discuss the audio aspect's of these new technologies on this forum, and therefore is different from what such discussions would be on the Video forum. I am not interested in the video forum since I am interested in the audio part of the next gen solution.
Somehow I feel you have other motives, though I am not sure what they are. This forum is hardly so busy that it cannot digress into discussions of related technologies.

I have stated my point several times - at this point in the development cycle, the new formats and platforms are video-focused. The soundtrack on a video disc can certainly be "audiophile-quality," but it's still part of the video. It is not a separate audio entity. Perhaps there will be a time in the near future when we see audio-only releases on BluRay/HD-DVD, but that time is not here yet.The same thing took place with DVD-Audio. When the DVD format was first released, it was totally video-focused. At a later time, the audio side was developed.
The basic features to do this with BluRay/HD-DVD are available now, but they are not yet being used, and there are no announcements yet that this will happen. Your interest is understandable, but in my view it is premature. This is still the DVD-Audio forum, and unless we're collectively prepared to declare the format completely dead (which I'm not prepared to do), it seems to me that it should stay the DVD-Audio forum.
As I said, I stated my view on this, not once, but several times. I have tried to be perfectly clear about my reasons for my opinion. Your attempt to ascribe ulterior motives to me strikes me as both pathetic and somewhat malicious. What is your purpose for doing this?
The fact that there is also video is a bonus, but I buy it for my hi-rez listening pleasure.Yes, DVD was created originally to be Video focused, however they learned from that limitation and the new standards fully take audio into account so the new next-gen media are really hybrid audio and video entities.
My motive is that I am interested in hi-rez audio no matter in what form it comes, and these MLP releases are very related to what this board is about.
I think that future hi-rez releases on next gen media will mostly all come with video of some form or another, this was not possible with DVD-Audio due to capacity constraints, but if a release is audio centric, there is no reason why it cannot also benefit from a video component, and that is what we are seeing with some TrueHD releases, such as the ones I listed earlier in this thread.
This forum has not been about DVD-A for several months. It has been about KEKL. Actually discussing ANY new technology is a welcome break. I don't know what the implications of Blu-Ray/HD-DVD technology are for high quality audio, except for the fact that both formats are capable of being used for Hi rez sound. That fact is of great interest to me and I am sure that it is of interest to many others as well. Why not use the DVD-A forum for this discussion? The fact that we do says nothing about the future of DVD-A pro or con and audio is generally not discussed in any video forum.Everyone agrees that, except for flame wars between the KEKL and everyone else, this forum is pretty slow. So why not open it up for other topics relating to DVD format and audio that have wide interest? Isn't that what this website is all about?
> > This forum has not been about DVD-A for several months. It has been about KEKL. < <Unfortunately, this forum has ALWAYS been about KEKL, and a couple of other format cheerleaders. That's why it was split off from Hi-Rez in the first place. It's also about DVD-Audio, which does occasionally get discussed here in between people attempting to torment KEKL. If there were less KEKL-bashers, there would be less KEKL, and there might even be more discussions about DVD-Audio. Unless, of course, the forum transitions to new formats.
So you want to bring discussions about new formats here? Well, there's two competing technologies, and a new format war. Do you understand that this will simply create yet another situation like the one that existed on Hi-Rez before it was split up? There will be more cheerleading, plenty of fresh format warriors, and new KEKL-clones.
If you're looking to pick sides and do battle, I can see why you'd want to transition this forum to the new technologies. The forum has a proven track record as a battleground, and has the right mix of experienced cheerleaders and veteran format warriors to get the fire started.
So, after you guys have turned the forum into Format Hell, where will those of us who might actually want to discuss DVD-Audio go?
These technologies fall perfectly in line with the interests of the people on this forum. This forum has been around for a while and it was not always about KEKL as you claim. It has slowed down significantly but there used to be lots of technical discussions over hear.
And despite his flaws, KEKL also contributes to this forum (and as far as the war of words go, KEKL is certainly not the only one responsible).
.
Any video whatsoever - it belongs here.

Geoff
