Does anyone make a simple black box type affair that I can put between my incoming cable and my (old) TV that will decode a stereo audio signal and send it to my two channel system? Thanks.
If I understand correctly what you are asking is you want the video from your cable box to go to your TV and the audio to go to your system but only have coax F-type connectors on your Cable box. If so you can probably get a custom F-type to RCA (w/3 RCAs:video and left and right audio) coax cable. Contact Markertek, they can make almost any type of cable you specify. I think the url is www.markertek.com. Find the phone number and give them a call.
How would it know which channel to decode? The cable is carrying all the channels, so it wouldn't know unless you told it which one, which necessitates a tuner of some sort, such as in a stereo VCR. Consider using a cheap stereo VCR as a tuner or getting a new TV.RichardH
