(from German blogsite (?) sgknox.com):
"It does not matter how you stand to porn. It is here and it is a massive business. It is also an industry that is an early adopter for new media technology. VHS might not have won with out the adult film industry adopting it. German Heise has interviewed Joone the founder of Digital Playgrounds at the AVN 2007 show in Las Vegas. Joone says actually said last year he is committed to Blu-ray. Now they announced four HD DVD titles in the United States. In the interview Joone says he was forced to use HD DVD, because no Blu-ray disc manufacturer would make his discs, because Sony was against it and they would loose their license. If this holds true, Blu-ray is at a major disadvantage and could fail."
Follow Ups:
'Cause the BDA is saying otherwise.Did anyone ever think to look at what studios are members of the BDA? (Hint: no adult film studios) Since these members would have first-hand information as to when replication would begin and the projected time frames for production of their discs, would they not have first chance at reserving a spot at the Blu-ray replication facilities? Blu-ray does have more studio support, so therefore these studios need more replication time than HD DVD and have more discs to produce. Furthermore, if the "Blu-ray won't support porn" rumors really were true, Vivid Entertainment wouldn't have made an official announcement of their newest title on Blu-ray just days ago.
And before anyone suggests an avalanche of porn titles for HD DVD, you might want to research how many adult film titles on HD DVD have actually been announced. Studios like Vivid, Wicked Pictures, Digital Playground and Adam&Eve will be releasing HD adult movies on Blu-ray. It's just that it will not be as soon as those on HD DVD.
They are getting the remake of Debbie does dallas. We'll see.
Pink visual and a few others companies are going HD DVD only.

.
I miss my HD broadcasts when I stoop to watching lowly DVDs on the big screen.
More will be coming(no pun intended) in March. Most of the major porn studios have decided to go HD DVD. Blu-ray (Sony) has threatened to take away the licence of any replicator that does porn on BR. Whether or not it has any real effect the format's acceptance, remains to be seen. People forget just how big the porn industry really is.

Hieth,
how youth doin'?Anyway.... yes, porn is huge. But do the guys that buy it really want higher resolution? It's fine in theory, but it requires ponying up
more money. I think that will slow that down to a crawl. On top od that the discs will be more delicate, limiting it's appeal to families.IMHO, it's toast regardless of what Jenna Jameson does in HiDef...

Do guys (and Gals) want better quality pictures for their porn? I'm going to hazard a guess and say yes.> > > but it requires ponying up more money < < <
True, but porn and extra income tend to go hand in hand. Somebody has to be keeping the industry alive.> > > On top od that the discs will be more delicate, limiting it's appeal to families. < < <
Porn usually doesn't appeal to families per se, and the discs aren't any more delicate than a regular DVD.Personally, I don't know if it will really make a difference with the formats or not. Or if it will sell or not. I haven't watched porn in years.
I still think both formats will coexist for quite a while, surviving as niche products.

Hi,
I think the pits are 6 times smaller, so any scratch is six times worse. For the medium to thrive it needs families; and I doubt that's gonna happen. Like SACD and it's competitor, it will struggle along in obscurity until the next big thing buries it forever.

Aparently porn DVDs/VHS is a $4B industry.
Here's a link for a few movies:

"Porn is a $4B/year industry. For your next task you'll be filming a....." OK, maybe not.
