I am relatively new to the Home theater craze but lately have been affected by it.Could you guys please give me some titles of movies for collection ? I need exceptional sound quality 5.1/7.1 recordings, titles which are considered reference/demo quality.
Also, please recommend me some movies with lots of good bass.
Both HD DVD and regular DVDs are Ok but I prefer HD DVD, provided there are enough titles in that format for what I need.
Thanks for your time.
Follow Ups:
The lowest bass can be found on the remake of "Flight of the Phoenix", where 37hz is achieved. The best overall DVD sound to date is on "Master and Commander". "Saving Private Ryan" and "Apocalypse Now Redux" have great sound. Star Wars Episode I is a terrible movie but has killer bass in the race scene. "The Bridges of Madison County" has perhaps the quietest of all soundtracks but shows what can be done with subtlety and taste. Sting's "Brand New Day" tour DVD has great bass.
Good Australian western...not sure if it would fill your audio qualifications, but very scenic, brutal imagery...and very violent. Written by Nick Cave.
Thanks guys, will get those.
