I've had the Denon for a long time and ran it to an old TV with the DVI cable.I bought the Sharp today and have everything working exceot the HDMI input from the Denon. Trying another route, I hooked up the Denon to the TV with component video cables. Neither video transmittal system works, although the DVD player still outputs audio into the HT receiver and plays the audio fine.
The in-use input selection lights on the Sharp are brighter than the not in-use lights, indicating they are connected.
Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA.
I have cycled the Denon's HDMI button through both outputs and neither work.
Follow Ups:
I tried in all formats 420 or whatever, 70 and 1080i. I tried RGB, - I tried the other... No go....I tried it with S-Video plugged as well as HDMI. Then, - I shut down the Denon and powered back up with just the HDMI outs, - still no go.
I was bummed.
Finally, - I just exchanged my HDMI to HDMI cable for DVI to HDMI cable and now I use that.....
Come up to me with your 'what did you say?' and I'll tell you straight in the eye: DIY
Don't know if this will help but ...If there are two or more HDMI inputs on the Sharp, make sure you've chosen the correct one.
There's a chance that either on your Denon or Sharp that you need to tell the machines to output and accept a 1080 signal. I know that my Dish Network HD box will not output 1080 unless I tell it to, could be something like that in the Denon and/or the Sharp. You mention you used to use the Denon through your old TV thru DVI, but was that an HDTV or just 480i? In which case, I would think that's why you used to see a DVD signal and not anymore, and therefore the problem lies in the DVD player's video output setting.
Maybe that 3910 owners can chime in on this. Keep us posted.
