going for the cheaper, and would most probably be inferior BDP-S300 is not an option.
the decision will most likely rest on the S1's analog out for uncompressed LPCM. But still, they like to know what else are in both machines that determines sound and video quality reproduction.
Do you have any links to website that has people opening up their PS3 and showing the inside construction?

Do your buddies want to play CDs in their Blu-ray player? If so, the BDP-S1 can't do it, neither Pioneer's current Blu-ray player nor LG's Blu-ray/HD DVD player.
