I really don't know how the tivo works but I don't like paying out subscriptions. It seems like everyone is trying to make us pay monthly bills.
As much as I like cell phones I can see that the licencee of CDMA technology ----Qualcomm (the new Ma Bell of wireless) is going to have a strangle hold on peoples pocketbooks .Oooops there I go off topic.
Follow Ups:
I have both TiVo and non-TiVo HD DVRs. The TiVo menu system is outstadning, making it much easier to find future programs or movies. I assume they have a patent on it. At one time DirectTV offered TiVo service without additional fee, and they continue to honor that, but the new DirectTV HD DVR does not offer TiVo service. I want at least one of our DVRs to be TiVo capable.Early on, we had a TiVo DVR and a separate HD reciever, but you couldn't record HD. I discovered that DVR was more important to me than HD. Fortunately, we no longer have to make the choice.
